Bladder stones

Has anyone's dog experienced bladder stones whilst feeding BARF?
My 11 year old otherwise healthy terrier cross has just had major bladder surgery for removal of 2 bladder stones, one of which was lodged in his urethra and was extremely painful for him :( Thankfully he is now making a good recovery.
However the vet has said he should now be on a specialist urinary diet i.e. Royal Canin s/o which he won't eat. He's been fed a raw diet for a couple of years now but I am concerned it may have increased his chances of the stones. I am struggling to find info on the subject.
Would be very grateful for any opinions. I would preferably like to to tweak his raw diet to suit him and help prevent further stones.
