thawing food on the BARF diet

Hi,
I have read that you should not thaw food in the microwave because it can cook it.  Is it OK to use the "defrost" button.  I usually put it lower than the actual weight of the food - enough so it is not hard as a rock frozen, but it may still be cold.  Is this OK

Re: thawing food on the BARF diet

Anne Marie, no, it doesn't matter what setting you use on the microwave to thaw, never use a microwave to thaw. Microwaving food also changes the molecular structure of food (yes, human food too). The best way to thaw the frozen food is to either place it in a sink with tepid water for several hours or take the food out of the freezer the night before and thaw it out in a large bowl on the counter.
